When people who don't believe that Christ died and resurrected are really good people and do awesome stuff like Greg Mortenson, is it because of the Holy Spirit or something else? I guess a simpler way to put it is: Are all good deeds done by all men because of the Spirit? I've been putzing around in my Biblia trying to figure it out but I just can't come to any conclusions about it.
Any ideas? (And please if it's a really obvious answer don't make me feel stupid!)

Why hello Kira,
Good to see you in the blogosphere.
Very interesting insightful question.
The answer is yes. Because the Spirit is life and light and love, and so anything that is good is fruit of the Spirit. Karl Barth might even say that anything that is done is the Spirit, because evil is an undoing and an absence. I don't know if I'd go that far though.
Far out analogy: is breathing a good deed? Breathing = life. You can choose not to breath, but that would be going against life and the law of the world. Or you can participate in life, which is the Spirit, which is God.
Does that make sense?
How about evil things? What is their cause?
